Deux jours apr\u00e8s sa d\u00e9faite contre Youssef Boughanem \u00e0 l\u2019ARES 44, Mohamed Soumah semble tourner la page. Ce lundi 2 novembre, le combattant fran\u00e7ais a publi\u00e9 une courte story sur Instagram : \u00ab Je d\u00e9pose les gants, merci pour tout. \u00bb Ce message fait suite \u00e0 une vague de critiques et d\u2019insultes, dont certaines racistes, visant le combattant de 28 ans sur les r\u00e9seaux sociaux.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Une story sobre, sans explication<\/h2>\n

Le message tient en quelques mots, sur un simple fond noir. Apr\u00e8s ses remerciements, Soumah y ajoute une pri\u00e8re, dans laquelle il demande \u00e0 Allah de guider et de b\u00e9nir la terre et son peuple.<\/p>\n

Le combattant ne donne aucune explication et ne pr\u00e9cise pas si cette d\u00e9cision est d\u00e9finitive. Il n\u2019indique pas non plus si elle concerne uniquement le MMA ou l\u2019ensemble des sports de combat. \u00c0 l\u2019heure o\u00f9 nous \u00e9crivons ces lignes, ni Soumah ni l\u2019ARES n\u2019ont apport\u00e9 d\u2019autres pr\u00e9cisions.<\/p>\n

Une d\u00e9faite spectaculaire \u00e0 Strasbourg<\/h2>\n

Le 31 octobre, au Z\u00e9nith de Strasbourg, Soumah est pass\u00e9 tout pr\u00e8s du plus grand succ\u00e8s de sa carri\u00e8re. Il a envoy\u00e9 Boughanem au tapis \u00e0 trois reprises dans les 90 premi\u00e8res secondes, et la l\u00e9gende du muay-tha\u00ef, le visage en sang, semblait au bord du KO.<\/p>\n

Le combat a pourtant bascul\u00e9 au sol. Peu apr\u00e8s 2 min 30, Boughanem a amen\u00e9 le Fran\u00e7ais \u00e0 terre, l\u2019a touch\u00e9 avec des coudes, puis a pris son dos. Sur un \u00e9tranglement arri\u00e8re, Soumah a d\u00fb abandonner d\u00e8s le premier round.<\/a><\/p>\n

Mohamed Soumah vs Boughanem : L\u2019arbitrage au c\u0153ur de la pol\u00e9mique<\/h2>\n

Apr\u00e8s le combat, Soumah a estim\u00e9 que l\u2019arbitre aurait d\u00fb arr\u00eater le combat lorsque son adversaire \u00e9tait en difficult\u00e9. Il n\u2019est pas le seul \u00e0 s\u2019\u00eatre pos\u00e9 la question, car La Sueur a aussi \u00e9crit que le combat aurait pu \u00eatre interrompu. En MMA, il n\u2019y a pas de compte apr\u00e8s une chute : l\u2019arbitre intervient lorsqu\u2019un combattant ne se d\u00e9fend plus intelligemment. Or Boughanem s\u2019est prot\u00e9g\u00e9 et s\u2019est relev\u00e9 \u00e0 chaque fois.<\/p>\n

Sur les r\u00e9seaux sociaux, ces propos ont d\u00e9clench\u00e9 une avalanche de r\u00e9actions. Certains internautes l\u2019ont trait\u00e9 de mauvais perdant, d\u2019autres ont moqu\u00e9 son niveau et son jeu au sol. Plusieurs messages ont aussi bascul\u00e9 dans les injures racistes. Si la critique sportive fait partie du jeu, ces attaques n\u2019ont rien \u00e0 voir avec le sport.<\/p>\n

Un frappeur redout\u00e9<\/h2>\n

Sp\u00e9cialiste du kickboxing, Soumah s\u2019\u00e9tait lanc\u00e9 en MMA en 2023. Son bilan de quatre victoires et quatre d\u00e9faites r\u00e9sume bien son profil : tous ses succ\u00e8s sont arriv\u00e9s par KO ou TKO, et tous ses revers par soumission. Sa d\u00e9faite contre Boughanem faisait d\u2019ailleurs suite \u00e0 un autre \u00e9tranglement arri\u00e8re, subi contre Alvi Dasuyev le 6 juin \u00e0 Paris.<\/p>\n

Le Fran\u00e7ais a pourtant marqu\u00e9 les esprits \u00e0 Strasbourg. Face \u00e0 un adversaire aux 24 titres mondiaux en boxe tha\u00ef et kickboxing, il a montr\u00e9 que sa puissance pouvait faire vaciller n\u2019importe qui. \u00ab J\u2019ai vu le d\u00e9sespoir dans ses yeux \u00bb, confiait-il apr\u00e8s le combat, tout en reconnaissant que cette d\u00e9faite restait tr\u00e8s douloureuse.<\/p>\n
